History

Dating back to early 17th century and nestled in the heart of the Boyne Valley Region. The main house at Sheephouse Courtyard was once occupied by the carthusian monks and was used as a hospital for treating the Jacobites during the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.

Alongside the main house just at the entrance is an old forge, which was used during the war years for many of the locals who called to have their horses shod.

After many years of this property lying idle and derelict Des and Ann Gaffney fell in love with the setting of Sheephouse back in 2007 and could see the potential in restoring Sheephouse back to its former glory.
